its finally heeeeeere!!!!!!!!
went to the bike shop today with my housemate to pick up our new road bikes.
i got home at 4.30, and i knew i had running training at 6, but i just HAD to take it out for a spin. haha. and damn..it was smoooooooth as!
i cant wait till saturday to take it out on beach road and really stretch its legs. (..or wheels....watever)

i finally went to buy my bike yesterday!!
now my savings are down to just a few dollars, and my first 3 wks pay at nandos has been wiped on in one swift debit move.
but it doesnt matter....cos i finally have my road bike! woohoo!!
gotta wait till thursday to collect it tho... argh... the wait it so excrutiating! some ppl say that the longer you wait for something, the better it is in the end. sometimes thats just not true! i dont see how waiting longer could possibly make getting the bike any better.

another great bit of news... i might have 2 days off each wk! i was supposed to have wed off initially, with one lecture on tues, but now it looks like the tues lecture might be scrapped or moved to friday morning, which means both tues n wed will be free!! how awesome is that!

going to (yet again) get back to training tonight. this start-stop mentality has to stop if i wanna meet my target of finishing in the top10 club ranking this season. gotta buck up. no pian no gain!

last night by myself

wow. this is quite a milestone. after 1yr 7mths of living alone, tonight is gonna be my last night by myself. my housemate, jeff, is arriving tmr morning. i really dunno wat to expect. havnt lived with anyone b4 (excluding Satiish in bunk). But ive never had to share bills, and rent, and cleaning up. (lets face it, Satiish n i claned up on an annual basis). Gonna be a whole new experience..im kinda nervous about it. But just gotta take it as it comes i guess... part of the overseas experience. After all, it was me who didnt want to live alone anymore.

Work at nandos this wk was much better. Less scolding by the BOSS. haha. i asked for 2 shifts a week (10hrs total) during semester time, but mr. bossman said that he might need me for 3 shifts a week. i said ok. hoping that i can cope. This sem is gonna be busy busy busy, and i dont mean schoolwork. Theres the winter running season thats starting soon, and the first race is late april, so i'll definitely wanna start working towards that. Plenty of Singapore Student Society things to start planning too. During orentation, in a bid to attract new members of the club, we started saying that we organise activites on a fortnightly basis. hahaha. now i have to live up to that promise! we're planning to organise fun runs every wkend, and use that to get away with the "one activity per fortnight" clause. haha. i also joined the cycling club. jeff too. thanks to the nandos job, i finally have enuf money to buy my beloved road bike! weeehoo! yup, so cycling's gonna be every sunday morning. after all that is said and done, i'll try to squeeze a bit or studying somewhere inside.

oh yes and of course 3 hrs each wk is dedicated to one episode of Smallville, LOST and Heroes. ha.

the savant...

ive decided to start another comic. yep, as some of u may have known, ive been tossing around ideas for a while now. its been very frustrating. i think the whole process of coming up with a good plot device that gets your whole story going is probably the hardest thing in storytelling. Most of the time u come up with an idea, which is quite good, but you dont FEEL IT. you say "yeah, thats a good idea. its good. mm...but do i REALLY want to spend 2yrs of my life developing it? naaahhh."

i was feeling like that for a long time now. ever since i finished my last comic, Uberman, which (holy cow!) has been a YEAR now, ive been trying to come up with an original story. All my past comics were parodies of other TV shows, movies, etc with my friends or classmates in them. Uberman was quite original, but it still borrowed heavily from Smallville and Superman. (wait...they're the same arent they...) I wanted to do a comic that i could call my own. One that i could possibly send out to publishing companies.

About a week ago, i was lying down on my couch (cos it was too darn HOT to sleep of my loft bed), and as i was dozing off, i suddenly had this major influx of ideas! i dunno why...but i find that you get CRAZY ideas just before u fall asleep. Trouble is, u usually forget them the next morning. And i definitely didnt want that to happen! so i got up, booted up my comp, opened MS Word, and wrote down about 3 pages of text...just mental vomiting it all out. (note to self: need to develop this technique for essay writing).
I started pencilling the first page 2 days ago, and just finished inking and scanning it today. Its got hardly any text in it, but hopefully it helps to set the tone for the rest of the book.

stuck at uni

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
its was sooooo hot today! 38degrees!!!!
wiwi (and her grandma), yongsi, and ed came over for CNY lunch. we cooked chicken rice (standard), prawns in batter, and steak! it was super nice! and then longans with almond jelly for dessert.
went to chinatown afterwards to see all the CNY stuff that was going on there. they had cordoned off a whole street and set up stalls (like fun-o-rama) selling food and little nic-nacks.
but the weather was tooo darn hot.

got home at about 5pm, took a shower and went to uni to submit my digital design assignment. and when i reached uni, BOOM! it started raining!!
still raining now... im stuck here. no umbrella...
im hungry.... aaah, i can taste those crispy wedges now. *drools on keyboard*
*wipes keyboard with shirt*

i feel so sleepy. its was so HOT last nite that i couldnt sleep on my loft bed. (hot air rises......dammit!) So i slept on my futon couch (which is about 30 cm too short for me) with the fan on. Didnt sleep too well...woke up still feeling wrecked.
Then i went to the kitchen to make breakfast... i tipped over the cereal box to pour the cereal out, and there was only ONE kernel of cereal left!!!!! seriously! ONE!

well, good to get all the bad karma out of the way early in the morning. haha.

uh oh. i have to leave in 20mins. better go n shower now.

i just got off work at 11.30pm tonite...so tired....
the last shift is always the hardest...have to clean up the whole store. by right the last order shld be at 10pm ,but my boss cant seem to say no to customers and he usually takes "last" orders till 10.30...

arrggggg.....its 2am now and im barely awake.
one more hour till valentines day in spore....

the last TWO times i tried to blog, i wrote lengthy blogs and they were unable to be published. GAAAHH!! for some reason, only the title of the post appeared following by this huge blank space where the text was supposed to be. so if you're reading this, it meaans that this time was "great success!!"

settling in...

tuesday was the BIG move. today crystal came over and helped me set up my loft bed. it was a real pain to take apart and set up again, and my mom told me to just buy a new "proper" bed like normal people do. but a love my loft bed! i bitched and whined and groaned while i assembled it, but now that its back up in my new room, all i can say is... ITS NICE!

still a few more little things like rubbish bin, a couple of posters, and some toiletries that i need to move from the old place, then comes the im-so-not-looking-forward-to-it task of cleaning up the place!!! im the type of cleaner who jus sweeps all the dust under the fridge. so now that the fridge isnt there anymore, the 12-month accumulation of dust and little bits of dried food is there for all to see!

yes, and im still internet-less, and will continue to be for at least another wk...probably more. which is probably a good thing cos i need to get my essay done and stop downloading Heroes, Lost and Smallville.

Went back to training today for the first time since end November. Some new faces...but mainly the old gang is still there. Fewer ppl tho... i guess not many aussies like running in the summer heat. and it was only 27 degrees! thats nothing, right Satiish!?!? haha. Tony the coach had me do an easy 40min run with a few surges in between...nothing too shocking on my first day back. still.....it hurt. im out of shape. the winter season starts in march, so ive got about 1 and a half months to get my form back.

tonight is roddick vs federer! ive become somewhat of a tennis fan of late, mainly bcos thats all they show on TV at night!

btw....does anybody know... where's Michael Chang????? haha.

optus needs to hire more callcentre ppl

i tried calling Optus (melbourne phone company) this morning to transfer my broadband from my current place to my new one. anyway...to the point.... i was put on hold for almost an HOUR!!!!!!! i dont care where u come from, that is totally unacceptable. and wait...it gets better.
when i finally got thru.... here's what happened:

me: hello. i'd like to transfer my optus broadband internet to a new address.

optus dude: does your new address have an existing optus connection.

me: erm...no.

optus dude: oh, sorry. in that case you'll have to call the home mover's extention. i can give u the number but they're not open on weekends.

me: (stunned). oh..... ok.

optus dude: you can call 1300555241 after 8am on monday. thank you. bye.

i was too stunned. you mean i had been waiting for AN HOUR for a 2 minute conversation that accomplished next to nothing!?!?!?!?

the rest of the day was good. moved more stuff to my new apartment in the day. watched rocky balbao (downloaded..hehe). its pretty good. better than i expected.

went to yongsi's at night with esther n wiwie to have bbq. it was so nice...the 4 of us talking and gossiping (and eating!). i dunno wat it is, but no matter how long its been since JC, i still feel that whenever we SB3 ppl get together, theres a closeness that i cant explain. i dont know wats gonna happen in the future...(some of us have are already married!!).. but i hope we'll continue to keep in touch.

moving house

tuesday is the big day.
i arranged with the moving company this morning, and they'll be here on tuesday.

the last two days have been a torture... largely its my fault bcos ive bought so much JUNK since i came to melbourne. (most of which.oddly enough, happens to be superman paraphanalia)
not to mention all the architecture models that are littered throughout the apartment. oh, and the little bits and pieces of leftover archi materials too. i think ive figured it out... usually when i build a model, i'll have a bit of leftover cardboard or foam core, and i'll jus chuck it in a corner "for later use". but when the time comes to build a new model, i jus go out n buy MORE materials... and then chuck the remainder in the corner again and the cycle repeats itself till now that small pile in the corner has become a HUGE LOAD of junk.

i for one believe in 'cleaning everything all at once..ONE SHOT!' rather than 'a little bit each day'. my mom would beg to differ....

today i also had to perform a very sad duty.....removing my beloved star wars episode 1-6 posters from my living room wall. although i suspect that it didnt bode too well with the ladies, i liked em up there anyways. gonna miss them in the new place cos i doubt my housemate would approve of me covering the walls with them.

in other unrelated news...i went for yongsi's b-day bbq on wednesday. esther and wiwie were supposed to come too, but they had to work late...so i went down to clayton by myself. met some of yongsi's mooonash frens. really nice people...easy going. i like. and we had chocolate fondue!! ITS NICE!!!
going back to her place for another bbq on sun...this time WITH esther n wiwie...to finish up the leftover food. hahaha.

the temperature today is......39 degrees!!!!!!
i wish i could just stay in all day in air-con comfort, but i have to go for a lecture right smack at noon. sigh... staying at home and playing FIFA sounds tempting.

after one week of summer school, ive come to the following conclusion...

history sucks.

it used to suck. it still sucks. and it will always suck.

argh... im jus a little on edge now after spending most of the day working on my class paper. (due on monday!!!). didnt expect to be doing so much work so early in the sem. still very much on holiday-mode.

at least if they're gonna make us study history (which i already find to be entirely irrelevant), at the very least make us study RECENT history like say within the past 50 years or so. That way, theres a high chance that we can actually APPLY the stuff we learnt into our designs and theres also a high chance that the architects we studied are still ALIVE. this sem im studying "modern" architecture in the 17th and 18th century. thats like AGES AGO!!! EVERYBODY IS DEAD! (excuse my bluntness). the architectural theories that they practiced then.....NOBODY CARES ABOUT THEM NOW!!!

like i said.....on edge.

i played some FIFA to try and ease the stress, but i lost 5-2 to sunderland!!!! only served to add to my stress.

things should get better after monday. i hope. i submitted my resume to Nandos this evening. hope i can get a job there, even though time really doesnt permit that right now. but i need the money. haha. gotta start planning for orientation soon too. need to find ways to sucker more innocent freshies into the Singapore Student Society. bwahahahahahaah!!!

wow. didnt realise how long its been since i last posted an entry till i saw the date on the last post... 4th dec!!! holy crap!!! ive been a total slacker (blogwise of course).

well, first thing's first..... UNI HAS STARTED!!! BAAAAHHH!!!! damn sian.
had my first lecture yesterday and first tutorial today. the lecturer is this old dude who wears a bowtie (wtf!) and speaks veryfastwithnopausesbetweenhiswordskindalikethis.

i was trying to stay awake the whole lecture. usually i just succumb to the z-monster and doze off, but in summer sch there are only like 15 students in one lecture, so if u sleep, EVERYBODY can see! still....i think i dozed off a few times for a few seconds. cannot tahan. good thing is, the lectures are recorded. thank you technology!!

feels really weird here now that satiish, marie and grace have left for spore. we had such a great holiday. thanks you guys. you made it so fun! "Its Nice!" "Great Success!"
the apartment is very quiet now. i leave the TV on when im bumming ard, otherwise its too creepy.

i just got the keys today! so excited! haha. its a 2nd storey apartment in a secure compound with low rise buildings only about 4 storeys. the landscaping is quite nice, and altho its farther from the city as my current place, its a LOT cheaper... which means more money for me to spend...heh heh. (mmm....comics......road bike......)

trying to get a job now. summer sch only takes up one or two hours a day, so ive got lots of time to kill. somebody hire meeeee!
